2009 Aspen Run – Leadville, CO and Southern Railroad

It is with great pleasure that I'm announcing the continuation of one of RMMC's long-time traditions, the Aspen Run. Traditionally we have gone to Georgetown, CO to observe the changing of the fall colors while riding the Georgetown Loop Railroad. While the idea is the same, the details will be slightly different this year.

We would like to invite you to participate in our Annual Aspen Run. We will be going to Leadville, CO to ride the Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad on Sunday, October 4th. This should be a spectacular ride to Leadville and the 2.5 hour train trip through San Isabel National Forest will be breath taking!

I would like to make clear that a motorcycle is NOT required to participate in this event! We welcome all members of our community to participate in this wonderful event. Please pass this invitation along to anyone that might be interested!

Our itinerary will be as follows:

Train departs 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - $32.50 per person, 2.5 hour trip

9:45 a.m. – Meet at Sam’s Club parking lot (Alameda & Virginia) [505 S. Broadway]
     (fill-up your tank & empty your bladder BEFORE you arrive)
10:00 a.m. – Depart for Leadville, CO
12:00 p.m. – Arrive Leadville, CO (100 miles from Denver to Leadville)
12:00 p.m. – Lunch at choice of restaurant as a group
1:30 p.m. – Arrive at Leadville, CO & Southern RR office
2:00 p.m. – Train departs
4:30 p.m. – Train returns
4:45 p.m. – Depart Leadville for Denver
6:45 p.m. – Arrive Denver, CO

NOTES:

• You will need to purchase your train tickets IN ADVANCE -- AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!! We DO NOT have a group reservation, and the train could fill up fast. - 2:00 p.m. departure - $32.50 per person.
• Please remember to dress appropriately for high elevations, and a variety of weather.
• All meals are YOUR responsibility.
